On April 22, the
Tracker Bass Club hosted the first of three open
team tournaments, the first being
Lake Michigan.
At 6 a.m., 23 teams
headed out to try their luck on the much sought
after, and often time, elusive smallmouth bass. With
bluebird skies and a picture perfect early April
morning, the day started out bright but with the
beautiful sunrise came the winds!! A strong
southwest wind made boat control and light hits very
difficult to detect. The teams had to work hard for
what they brought to the scales. The top five are as
follows:
1st place
weighing a very impressive 19.21 pounds was the team
of Joe Bertrand and Glenn Pazanin. Joe and Glenn
were fishing Lake Street the entire day using tubes
and sweet beavers.
2nd place
finish went to the team of Mike Meyers and Andy
Mills - they were right behind our first place
finishers with a hefty sack of 18.67 poinds.
3rd place
finishers Troy Billingsley and Bret Kreutz used
spinnerbaits to get them another limit weighing
18.50 pounds. This team also brought big fish for
the tournament to the scales. A 5.03-pound brute.
In 4th place
was the team of Al Huhra and Jeff Miller with a
total weight of just over 17 pounds.
Rounding out our top
five finishers was the team of Bob Henry and Tom
Fredrick with another nice limit weighing in at
15.85 pounds
.
In spite of the high
winds, bluebird skies and a tournament that was held
the previous day, our competitors showed how to
overcome it all with hard work and a little luck.
Congrats to all!!!
